Energy renovation
MaPrimeRĂ©novâ: the terms of the program will soon evolve Published on February 23, 2026 - Updated on April 24, 2026 - Service Public / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
Starting September 1, the aid provided through MaPrimeRĂ©novâ for extensive renovations of a home will no longer be granted in certain cases. Service Public presents the various conditions that must be met to benefit from aid for the energy renovation of your home.

MaPrimeRénov' is a state aid divided into 2 main pathways:
MaPrimeRénov' Pathway by gesture, if you wish to carry out one or more insulation, ventilation, heating, etc. works;
MaPrimeRénov' Accompanied Pathway, if you have plans for extensive renovation work.
These programs are accessible to owners, whether they live in the home concerned by the energy renovation or rent it out.
There is a third MaPrimeRĂ©novâ pathway, intended for co-ownerships, for the renovation of common areas as well as for collective interest works in private areas.
Starting September 1, 2026, the MaPrimeRĂ©novâ aid for extensive renovations will no longer be granted if a gas heating system is retained after the work. This evolution of the MaPrimeRĂ©novâ program, which concerns renovation work carried out in individual houses, is part of the Government's electrification plan.
This document specifies that this measure will allow "to prioritize the most virtuous projects to move away from fossil fuels"; it also indicates that it "aims to avoid financing renovations that perpetuate households' dependence on gas, and thus expose them to future fluctuations in gas prices".
Currently, it is already impossible to benefit from the MaPrimeRĂ©novâ Extensive Renovation program if your renovation project includes the installation of heating primarily powered by fossil fuels. Furthermore, aid cannot be granted if you retain heating powered by fuel oil or coal.
To benefit from MaPrimeRĂ©novâ Extensive Renovation, your home must:
be located in mainland France (this program is not accessible in overseas territories);
be classified E, F, or G on the energy performance diagnosis (DPE), before the work (in other words, be considered a "thermal sieve");
be at least 15 years old;
be occupied as a principal residence for at least 8 months per year.
As part of MaPrimeRĂ©novâ Extensive Renovation, your renovation project must achieve a gain of at least 2 classes on the DPE (for example, moving from F to D).
You must carry out a set of energy renovation works in your home among the following 6 work categories:
thermal insulation of walls;
thermal insulation of ground floors;
thermal insulation of the roof;
thermal insulation of exterior joinery;
production of heating or hot water.
Your renovation project must include at least 2 thermal insulation actions (roof, window/joinery, floors, or walls).
How to obtain MaPrimeRénov' Extensive Renovation financial support?
For extensive energy renovations, a personalized appointment with a France RĂ©novâ advisor is mandatory before submitting a request for aid.
The appointment with a France RĂ©novâ advisor should be an opportunity to:
assess your situation;
discuss possible works;
learn about the various financial aids available;
be directed to various actors in the housing sector present near you (a Renovâ facilitator, RGE craftsmen, etc.).
Then, to obtain financial support from MaPrimeRĂ©novâ, you must submit your request with the help of your Renovâ facilitator on the site monprojet.anah.gouv.fr with the required documents (you must provide your civil status, the date of birth of household members, your email address, the name of your Renovâ facilitator, the amount of other aids and grants received for this work, submit the quote from the RGE professional you have chosen, etc.).
It is recommended not to carry out your work before obtaining the agreement of the National Housing Agency for financing your work via MaPrimeRĂ©novâ.
When the work is completed, you must submit your invoice in your MaPrimeRĂ©novâ online space and request the payment of the grant.
The grant is paid to you in one installment by bank transfer.
The amount of the grant is calculated in proportion to an eligible expenditure level. This amount also depends, among other factors, on your income level and the class gain on the energy performance diagnosis that the work allows.
You can find the different possible levels of aid on our practical sheet dedicated to MaPrimeRĂ©novâ.
To benefit from MaPrimeRénov' Pathway by gesture, your home must be:
built for at least 15 years (this duration is reduced to 2 years in overseas territories);
and occupied as a principal residence for at least 8 months per year.
MaPrimeRĂ©novâ Pathway by gesture allows you to finance certain thermal insulation works or the installation of a decarbonized heating or hot water system. You can also benefit from financial aid for ventilation works, but only if you also carry out thermal insulation works.
The insulation of facade or gable walls, as well as the installation of manually or automatically fed biomass boilers, are no longer part of the eligible works for MaPrimeRénov' Pathway by gesture.
As an exception, you can benefit from MaPrimeRĂ©novâ Pathway by gesture for a home less than 15 years old if you install new heating and/or hot water production equipment to replace an oil boiler. To benefit from this exemption, you must simultaneously request the "oil tank removal" grant.
How to obtain MaPrimeRénov' Pathway by gesture financial support?
To obtain the aid, you must:
choose an RGE (recognized environmental guarantor) professional, after contacting several to compare their quotes;
submit your request on the site maprimerenov.gouv.fr with the required documents (you must provide your civil status, the date of birth of household members, your email address, the amount of other aids and grants received for this work, submit the quote from the RGE professional you have chosen, etc.).
Once you have obtained the agreement of the National Housing Agency (Anah) for financing your work via MaPrimeRĂ©novâ, you can carry out the planned work with the selected professional.
When the work is completed, you must submit your invoice in your MaPrimeRĂ©novâ online space and request the payment of the grant.
The grant is paid to you in one installment by bank transfer.
The amount of the aid varies depending on your income and the work undertaken. It is also subject to a ceiling of eligible expenditure.
You can find these different amounts on our practical sheet dedicated to MaPrimeRĂ©novâ.
You can use the Mes Aides RĂ©no simulator to estimate the amount of MaPrimeRĂ©novâ grant you may receive.
