In which cases can the driving license still be covered by the CPF? Published on February 25, 2026 - Updated on February 27, 2026 - Service Public / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
The conditions for the personal training account have evolved as of February 21. You can still use it to finance training for obtaining a driving license, provided you meet certain eligibility rules. Service Public presents these new conditions.

The rights available in a personal training account (CPF) can be used, under certain conditions, for preparing the theoretical and practical tests for the driving license.
Since February 21, 2026, if you wish to use your CPF to finance training related to a light vehicle driving license (licenses A1, A2, B1, B, or BE), you must:
be a job seeker registered with France Travail;
or otherwise benefit from third-party funding of at least €100 to prepare for this type of driving license (this funding can come from your employer if you are an employee, a region, the State, a skills operator - Opco, a training insurance fund, or the fund for the integration of people with disabilities in the public service, as well as from rights derived from the professional prevention account or rights AT/MP - work accident or occupational disease, etc.).
You cannot use more than €900 of your CPF to finance this preparation for the theoretical and practical tests of a light vehicle driving license.
The new eligibility rules are not yet integrated into the Mon compte formation platform. In any case, if you are not eligible, your application will be canceled after your registration request via the CPF for a driving license training. Checks are carried out on all registration requests. Following the cancellation of your application, your CPF rights will be recredited, and any remaining charge paid during registration will be refunded to you.
All holders of a personal training account can, however, still mobilize it to prepare for the theoretical and practical tests of a heavy vehicle or passenger transport driving license (licenses C1, C1E, C, CE, D1, D1E, D, and DE).
The personal training account cannot be used, regardless of your status, for:
a driving refresher course;
a points recovery course;
driving hours allowing you to switch from using a manual gearbox to an automatic gearbox, or vice versa;
additional hours of driving preparation that were not initially subscribed via your training account;
the 7-hour training that allows holders of a B license to drive two-wheeled or three-wheeled motor vehicles;
any personal project not related to a professional objective.
